No one would like to hear a collaboration between Missy Elliott and Prince more than Missy Elliott. Problem is, she can’t find the new music he sent her before he died.

“He had sent me some stuff, music of his and I moved and I could never find that music,” Elliott told The Strombo Show. “Yesterday, I was sitting there saying, I have to go to my house, in my storage space, and find this music.”
The idea for the duet started when Elliott contacted Prince to ask for permission to use a lookalike of him for one of her shows. The two met in Los Angeles to discuss the details and then Prince sent her new music for a possible collaboration.
In the interview, Elliott praised the late superstar as being larger than life. “When he entered the room, he was like a giant,” she said. “We really have to start appreciating these artists while they are still here, and not wait until these moments [after they’ve died] to recognize their genius and the greatness of what they’ve done for music.”
On Monday, Tidal posted 15 rare Prince albums, including The Black Album, which he originally pulled because he thought it was too dark.
