He can walk into pretty much any room and everyone stops to pay homage. His grand entrance to this year’s GRAMMYs was enough to generate a standing ovation from the crowd of well-heeled music superstars, eliciting the now-legendary smirk from Prince before he presented Beck with his Album of the Year prize (we all remember what happened next).

A freshly unearthed newspaper article from Prince’s junior high years proves that long before he was schooling Charlie Murphy in a rousing game of Shirts against Blouses, Prince was honing his basketball skills in the coolest way imaginable.
Prince’s basketball coach back in his junior high days confirms that the future music legend excelled at the game, despite one particularly glaring physical setback.
