One man is stepping forward to assert his claim to Prince’s estate, which has entered probate. Carlin Q. Williams says he is Prince’s biological son, and he has filed legal papers to begin the process of proving his relationship to his alleged father.

Williams states that Prince slept with his mother in Kansas City in July 1976. In an affidavit, his mother says she had drinks with Prince at the Crown Center Hotel, where they later had sex (via TMZ). Williams is currently in federal prison in Colorado on weapons charges, but he has requested a DNA sample to begin the process of identifying him as Prince’s biological son.
Prince famously left no will, so his biological sister Tyka Nelson filed an emergency request to appoint an administrator to oversee all financial matters pertaining to her late brother’s estate following his death on April 21. A Minnesota judge granted that request. At the moment, Prince’s siblings are the ones who stand to inherit from his estate. That could, of course, change if it turns out he has a child.
