Prince, Nirvana, N.W.A. & More Have Songs Added to GRAMMY Hall of Fame

The GRAMMY Hall of Fame has announced the 25 new recordings which will be added to it’s Hall of Fame this year.

The diverse list include’s Prince’s “Sign ‘O’ The Times,” David Bowie’s “Changes,” Merle Haggard’s “Okie From Muskogee,” Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and N.W.A.’s “Straight Outta Compton.”

“The GRAMMY Hall Of Fame represents all genres of music, acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which The Academy has become renowned,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy in a prepared statement. “Memorable and inspiring, these recordings are proudly added to our growing catalog and are an integral part of our musical, social, and cultural history.”

With this year’s additions there will be 1,038 recordings in the GRAMMY Hall of Fame. See the full list of inductees below.

“(Hep-Hep!) The Jumpin’ Jive” – Cab Calloway And His Orchestra

“I Got You Babe” – Sonny & Cher

“Jailhouse Rock” – Elvis Presley

“Lady Sings the Blues” – Billie Holiday

“Losing My Religion” – R.E.M.

“Maggie May” – Rod Stewart

“Mission-Impossible” – Lalo Schifrin

“Okie From Muskogee” – Merle Haggard

“Sign o’ the Times” – Prince

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” – Nirvana

“Smoke of the Water” – Deep Purple

“Stack O’Lee Blues” – Mississippi John Hurt

“Statesboro Blues” – Blind Willie McTell

“Straight Outta Compton” – N.W.A

“Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” – Sly & The Family Stone
