Prince: R U Listening will focus on the artist’s early years and his eventual rise to super stardom as recalled by friends, family and musicians who played with him, Rolling Stone reports.

The film will feature interviews with Dez Dickerson, who joined Prince’s stage band in 1979 and left the group after the 1999 tour, and André Cymone, who played bass in Prince’s teenage band Grand Central in the Seventies and toured with the artist through 1981. It will also include interviews with Prince’s colleagues and admirers, including Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, Bono, Lenny Kravitz and Sheila E.

Producer Michael Kirk will direct the doc for 13 Films. The announcement came from Ascot Elite Entertainment Group, a company that secured the rights for German-speaking countries in Europe. An exact U.S. release date has not been announced.

Prince’s first posthumously released song, “Moonbeam Levels,” came out as part of a new compilation, Prince 4ever. The song dates back to 1982, when Prince was working on 1999.
