Prince may have once been known for songs like “Erotic City,” which made fair use of the F-word, but now he’s decided dirty words just aren’t for him.
The Purple One revealed this in his upcoming cover story in June’s Essence, which has been dubbed the “Prince After Dark” issue, noting that it’s disrespectful to use such salty language in regards to women.

“Did you ever hear Muhammad Ali curse?” he said (via People). “Would you curse in front of your kids? To your mother? Marsha [Ambrosius], Lianne [La Havas], Janelle [Monae] … They’re all my sisters. We shouldn’t curse at them. We need to treat all of them, and all people, like royalty.”
In the issue, Prince also criticizes the heads of major labels, who he says are always at the beach.
